Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 August 2026
Maxie Taxie (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share and protect personal information when you use our mobile applications, websites and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
By using Maxie Taxie you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- Account & identity data — name, phone number, email address, profile photo, government ID (for drivers), vehicle details and licence information.
- Location data — precise GPS location while a trip is active, approximate location when the app is open, and location history related to completed trips (retained only as long as necessary for safety, support and legal obligations).
- Trip & usage data — pickup/drop-off points, routes, timestamps, fare, payment method, device identifiers, app version, crash logs and interaction events.
- Emergency & safety data — emergency contacts you add, SOS activations, audio/video streams triggered by SOS (where permitted by law and your settings), and safety-desk notes.
- Communications — messages you send to support, in-app chat with drivers/riders, and feedback.
- Payment data — processed by third-party payment providers; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate and improve the ride-hailing and safety features of Maxie Taxie.
- Verify drivers and maintain a trusted marketplace.
- Enable real-time trip sharing and one-tap SOS that notifies your chosen emergency contacts and our safety desk.
- Detect fraud, abuse and safety risks, and respond to emergencies.
- Process payments, issue receipts and settle driver earnings.
- Send service-related notifications (trip updates, safety alerts, account notices).
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
- Analyse aggregated, de-identified data to improve product design and operations.
3. SOS, Location Sharing & Emergency Contacts
When you press SOS, Maxie Taxie shares your live location, trip details and (where enabled) limited audio/video context with the emergency contacts you have added in the app and with our 24/7 safety desk. This is done solely to protect you and to direct help as quickly as possible (our systems aim to pinpoint location within approximately 3.07 seconds under normal conditions).
You control which contacts receive SOS notifications. You can add, edit or remove emergency contacts at any time in the app settings.
4. Sharing of Information
We may share information with:
- Other users — limited profile and trip information needed to complete a ride (e.g., first name, vehicle details, rating).
- Emergency contacts & safety partners — when you activate SOS or when our systems detect a high-risk situation.
- Service providers — cloud hosting, payment processors, analytics, customer support tools (under strict contractual obligations).
- Law enforcement or regulators — when required by applicable law or to protect the safety of users or the public.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to continued protection of your data.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, including legal, accounting and safety requirements. Trip location data is typically retained for a limited period after the trip ends unless a longer retention is required for an ongoing investigation or legal claim. You may request deletion of your account; some data may be retained in anonymised or aggregated form or where we have a legal obligation to keep it.
6. Security
We implement technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, regular security reviews and staff training. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we continuously work to improve our safeguards.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal exceptions).
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Data portability in a commonly used format.
You can manage many preferences directly in the app (location permissions, emergency contacts, notification settings). For other requests, contact us using the details below. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.
8. Children’s Privacy
Maxie Taxie is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. International Transfers
Maxie Taxie operates in multiple countries. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place when data is transferred internationally.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by other reasonable means. Continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
